With the rank systems that vary from different militaries in the United States as well as other countries, it was determined that G.I.Joe would have it's own rank system. This makes it easier for fellow G.I.Joe members to recognize each other as a true G.I.Joe member and not someone simply assigned to the team for a mission. It's a very simple structure and is created to allow room for additions if necessary.

**GENERAL OPERATIVE RANKS**
E-1	1st Level Ensign	Regular starting level of a G.I.Joe operative.
E-2	2nd Level Ensign	The 2nd level of a G.I.Joe operative is usually held by field units.
E-3	3rd Level Ensign	The 3rd level is given to field units with special duties.
E-4	4th Level Ensign	4th level ensigns are the general rank given to high skilled G.I.Joe operatives.
E-5	5th Level Ensign	The top rank of Ensigns are given to those with higher levels of specialties

O	Officer	This is the regular rank of a G.I.Joe police officer.
CO1	Chief Officer	2nd in command G.I.Joe police officer.
CO2	Commanding Officer	Commanding police officer

P1	Pilot 1st Level	A general pilot with no command authority.
PF1	Pilot First Class 1st Level	A high skilled pilot with minimum command authority.
PF2	Pilot First Class 2nd Level	The next level of first class pilots that usually are in charge of helicopter aviation and other bladed flying vehicles.
PF3	Pilot First Class 3rd Level	Extremely skilled pilots in charge of top secret technological aviation.
PF4	Pilot First Class 4th Level	The second highest skilled pilots that have squardron command.
PF5	Pilot First Class 5th Level	The highest skilled pilots with full command authority over air combat.

**Unit Commanders**
FO1	Field Operative	First level mission commanding position rank.
CFO	Command Field Operative	Top level mission commander.

**Commanding Ranks**
LT	Lieutenant	The lowest command rank held by those who lead divisions of units in combat.
LTC	Lieutenant Commander	A commanding position given to those in charge over the complete unit in the field.

SGT-1	Sergeant 1st Class	The lowest command rank held by those who lead divisions of units in combat.
SGT-2	Sergeant 2nd Class	A commanding position given to those in charge over the complete unit in the field.
C-SGT	Command Sergeant	The highest rank given before general. Command sergeants take the orders straight from the general and leads the troops in battle. They can also make decisions on the spot without consulting a general if necessary.

ADM

Admiral

A commanding position given to those in charge of large vessels (usually ships).

G1	1 Star General	The starting rank of general that must remain at the base most of the time to over see missions. A 1 star general can go on missions only when necessary.
G2	2 Star General	Usually a 2 star general rank is an open position that is granted to 1 star generals when a command sergent moves up in rank. Only a single 2 star general exists at a time and must move up in rank within a year.
G3	3 Star General	3 star generals are the rank held by generals stationed on site of G.I.Joe base.
G4	4 Star General	The second highest ranking general that works with the 5 star general when planning missions. There must be 2 generals at a time to hold this rank.
G5	5 Star General	The highest ranking general of G.I.Joe. Only a single general can hold this rank and answers only to the president.
